El Puertito

Level: 1 / Max depth: 12 metres

A very interesting and popular dive for all levels of diver.

In collaboration with La Laguna University a local dive centre undertook a project to remove the invasive lime sea urchin (Diadema antillarum) in an attempt to restore the area to its natural state. Several years on and the return of algae on the rocks as well as the number of grazing fish is evident.

We can be almost certain to encounter some of the critically endangered Green turtles (Chelonia mydas) that inhabit the area and graze on the sea-grass here too. Fantastic for photographers as these graceful creatures are extremely friendly.

Hi all, Thanks for the great time we had diving with you in april. It was nice to be with divers who treated us as equals and not as lessers as many companies do. Next time we are in Tenerife we will look you up. Many thanks.
