Divemaster Training

Instructor Training

Divemaster Training

During the PADI Divemaster course candidates acquire the skills necessary to make the transition from a recreational diver to this first professional membership level. The course is hard work and not for the feint hearted!

  • All standard open water skills are improved to demonstration quality.
  • Underwater equipment exchange tests problem solving abilities.
  • Watermanship and stamina are evaluated.
  • Instructor level academic knowledge is developed and tested.
  • Underwater mapping hones navigation and orientation skills.
  • Rescue skills are revised.
  • Dive leader exercises develop candidates' skills in dive planning, leadership and proper response to common underwater problems.

Intern or Intense

The Divemaster training can be undertaken either as an internship or as an intensive course.

The intensive training is charged at a daily rate of 100€ for 1:1 tuition from one of our highly experienced Instructors. As long as the theory has been completed in the candidate's own time this should take 8 to 12 days. Intensive courses are run on demand.

The Divemaster internship is free but takes 8 weeks (6 days per week). This type of course offers the benefit of gaining first-hand experience of working in a busy dive centre. Our 2012 Internships run from 29th June - 24th August. Upon successful completion of the Divemaster course you will be required to pay an annual subscription to PADI currently costing 73€. Once qualified it is beneficial to go straight on and take the Instructors course as much of the Divemaster theory is the same for the Instructor exam.

Pre-requisites

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years old
  • Certified as a Rescue Diver or equivalent
  • 40+ logged dives (60 required prior to certification)
  • Current diving medical certificate (in last 12 months)
  • Proof of CPR and First Aid training prior to certification (in last 24 months)

Instructor Training

Our next Instructor Development Course will take place from 17th September to 27th September 2012. An independent Instructor Exam takes place here in Tenerife on 29th and 30th September 2012.

Pre-requisites

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years old
  • Certified to Divemaster or equivalent
  • First Aid training including CPR in the last 12 months
  • 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exams
  • At least 6 months as a certified diver
  • Current diving medical certificate (in last 12 months)
